Yuri Bashmet has an extensive discography and has recorded most of the viola's concerto, solo and chamber repertoire for several different labels. He has had exclusive contracts with BMG, Sony Classical and Deutsche Grammophon.

He has recorded chamber music with many other distinguished musicians, including Martha Argerich, Gidon Kremer, Mischa Maisky, Mikhail Muntian, Vassily Lobanov, Oleg Kagan, Natalia Gutman and Sviatoslav Richter.

With his ensemble Moscow Soloists, he has embarked on a highly successful series of recordings for Onyx. The first disc - music by Shostakovich, Sviridov and Vainberg - was nominated for a Grammy award. The second disc (Prokofiev / Stravinsky) is now available.
